    Paul,

Excellent presentation at the Marketing Conference. I am aligned with your thinking and like your concepts. I agree that we desparately need leadership in Canada to facilitate such a concept as your thought provoking ideas. I would be prepared to work at the highest level to assist in the movement.

As a Canadian and American (lived in US for 10 years)and CEO of the Packaging Association of Canada I could add value to the cause.

Great presentation Paul. A huge eye-opener and I couldn’t agree more. Canada is lacking vision and brand identity.

A contradictory article in The National Post however, claiming Canada’s ‘country brand’ No. 2…

We Canadians are at a critical fork in the road and must choose which future we want? Do we want a prosperous future now? If so then lets keep selling our resources. Or do we want to slow down, collaborate to create a strategy, reinvest in our national brand, and benefit in the long term?

We need leaders thinking about tomorrow and not today. The challenge is we think too independently to create a unified tomorrow. We need to unite leaders and create a plan to ensure our current sacrifice will bring a better tomorrow.

We need to put decision makers in the hot seat. Let’s host a nationally broadcasted Canadian round table where decision makers can publically volunteer their efforts. Pioneers will have their vision seen and heard. Decision makers who avoid the opportunity for change will remain unseen and forgotten. Let’s provide a forum for change!

    Thanks for driving the discussion.

Very insightful presentation at the Marketing summit, Paul. In light of the G20 meeting today and the demand from the Big 3 for bailout (NO!), I came upon an article posted by Neil Young on the Huffington Post called “How to save a major automobile company”, which gave me an idea to write the following Press Release for the near future:

“The first Canadian-made, green vehicle rolls off the assembly line today. The Inuit, a self-charging electric vehicle (SCEV), captivates global attention as it debuts at Can Lab, the retrofitted, high tech auto manufacturing facility in Oshawa, once an GM assembly plant.

The Inuit’s engine is a techno mesh of SMART devices engineered and designed with 100% Canadian innovation. The tires are customized for Canadian climate, only available at Canadian Tires.

The Inuit is to be the official vehicle for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.”

Doable? I think so (except for the Olympics part).

I’m surprised there are only 4 messages following your presentation. There was so much positive energy in the room. I hope you are getting more interested people than seen here! It’s so common to see a great presentation and feel energized, but lose that energy once we get back ‘to the day job’. That’s why not enough action is taken.

I did notice Justin Trudeau at the back of the room taking lots of notes during your presentation. Assuming he’ll be a strong influencer and leader in this country, he is likely onside with the vision. A great ally.

The ideas you shared were fantastic and most, if not all, can happen. I would be honoured to be on any team you are pulling together to bring those visions to life!

This is fantastic Paul. Very insightful. Totally on the same page.

  7. Doreen Belliveau Says:

I too enjoyed your presentation at the conference. I agree, you could feel the excitement in the room, along with some fear, likely. For some individuals, profound ideas need time to take root and draw a powerhouse of resources before they will feel comfortable to take the leap of faith to the other side. Great initiatives and movements begin small, with discussions, so thankyou for initiating this and I look forward to seeing where this goes next. I support your concepts.
